Colombian filigree jewelry
A gold thread drawn down to the gauge of a hair and then coiled by hand, turn over turn.
Filigree is not a stamped pattern. It is metal drawn until it becomes thread, then coiled, soldered and set by hand. Six hours to reach 0.22 mm. Two or three days for a pair of earrings.
That is why no two pieces come out the same, and why KORA stays small.
Five pieces we show first when someone stops at the booth and does not know where to start.
The metal passes through the drawplate again and again until it reaches 0.22 mm. That step alone can take six hours.
Each turn is wound over the last. The 7 Coils ring is called that because it carries exactly seven.
The threads are joined with heat at the right points. Too much and the pattern melts. Too little and the piece gives way.
The stone goes in last. Between drawing and setting, a pair of earrings takes two or three days.
No guessing at measurements. Every piece is photographed on the hand, the ear or the neck.

Thirty-four pieces in rotation. From $12.99 to $59.99.

A white cloth, velvet busts and a mirror. That is where people try the pieces on, feel the real weight of the gold and take their time.
If we have not confirmed a detail, we do not write it. That is more useful than an adjective.
